Mother Of Peace - Our Projects
Many Fund Raising Projects have been organised since 2005, this year our 3rd Annual Walk took place along the Boyne Canel in May, this generated approximately €14,000. The money will go towards....
In the 3 years since the Irish Friends of Mother of Peace formed, the following projects have been completed:
- 2005 - Purchase a 16 seater mini bus
- 2006 - Extensions and upgrading of four houses
- 2006 - Furnishing and fitting out all the new and upgraded houses
- 2006 - Purchase of heavy duty lawnmower and rotovator
- 2007 - Construction of four new houses by Irish Volunteers
- 2008 - Erection of security fencing and gates into children's home
- At present funding the salary of a social worker for 1 year to assist in the registration of Mother of Peace into an official Childrens Home with South African Authorities. This in turn will mean that a small monthly allowance with be made for each child from the South African Government.

IT IS IMPORTANT REMEMBER THAT EVERY CENT DONATED GOES DIRECTLY TO MOTHER OF PEACE AND NO DEDUCTIONS ARE MADE WHATSOEVER FOR ADMINISTRATION OR ANY OTHER COSTS.
In September, a team of builders, plasters, plumbers etc are travelling to Illovo. They will complete two projects over the duration of 3 weeks.
Project 1: Build a male and female toilet block at the local school which most of the children attend. In all there are almost 460 children and 45 adults using 2 toilets with no running water or sewerage. This will be a major boast to the children and the local community.
Project 2: As Mother of Peace is a Christian Based Community, Mass is celebrated each Sunday and on various other days throughout the week. Currently Mass is celebrated in the Community Centre. A new purpose built Church is to be erected which will be a place of solice and worship for the Children's home.
