VOLUNTEERS FROM TEMPLE STREET VISIT MOP

14 Apr 2009 | Posted by Mother of Peace Admin

On 1st February, 2009, four of us from Temple St Hospital, set off for our adventure to Mother of Peace.   We truly had a life changing experience.   It is wonderful to see the children running around, having a proper childhood, given by people who really care for them.

We fundraised over 13,500 euro for the orphanage.  We held a pub quiz in the Big Tree in Drumcondra, Dublin and a function in Teach Murray, Gurteen, Co. Sligo. We would again like to thank everybody who donated to and supported the events we held.   They were a huge success.

The money raised went to the renovating, and purchasing of equipment and materials for the St Joseph’s Day Care Centre of the orphanage. We cleaned and painted the area.  Jimmy our skilful tradesman tiled the pantry and installed units.  The area will be used to feed and educate orphans and vulnerable children from the surrounding areas.

We have made loads of new friends since our trip and the work the people do there is amazing.  The children are so well cared for and are so happy.  Since we returned home, there have been numerous enquiries about our trip.  We would advise anyone to go there as a volunteer, it is wonderful to see what your money does to help these children.

We can’t wait to go back!
