ANNUAL BOYNE WALK – 27TH MAY 2012

The annual walk along the  Boyne will take place on SUNDAY27TH MAY AT 3.00pm.   We will depart from The Ramparts at Navan and walk to Stackallen Bridge where refreshments will be available.   After a rest, the walk will return back to Navan and finish at The Ramparts.   If you would like to take part we would be delighted to see you on the day.  Sponsorship cards are available by contacting any of the people on the contact page of the website.   All money raised goes directly to the orphanage so even the smallest amount raised will go a long way.

Trash & Treasure Party in Saudi for MOP

Many thanks to Martina Murray currently working King Abdulaziz Medical City National Guard Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arab who organised a Trash & Treasure Party (in Ireland it is more commonly known as a Bring & Buy Sale). It was all in aid of Mother Of Peace and we are delighted that Martina rasied €2,000. This will go a long way in the orphanage at a time when money is very tight. Thank you so much and also to everyone who contribute Trash or Treasure.

The annual sponsored Navan to Slane walk along the Boyne River will take place on Sunday 26th June leaving The Ramparts Navan at 2.00pm.  Please contact us on 0868248605 for sponsorship cards or details.  All proceeds go directly to the orphanage.

With less than two weeks to go to the big event,  all participants are putting the final touches to Meaths Answer To Strictly Come Dancing 2011.  Rumour has it the standard for this years competition is extremely high.  Tickets are selling well and only about 100 tickets remaining.   Tickets can be purchased directly from the Knightsbrook Hotel on 046 9482100.   The show is on Sunday 20th March at 7.30pm sharpe

2nd Annual ‘Meaths Answer To Strictly Come Dancing’

If  you were luck enough to attend last year’s amazing event,  you’ll be delighted to know that practicing for this years event is well underway.   Following from the huge success of last year’s event, the launch of Meath’s Answer To Strictly Come Dancing 2011 took place in Beggys’ Bar Navan. 28 local competitors were pair up on the night and compete to take the crown from last years winners Noreen Walsh & Fr Derek Derby who won with their very energetic remediation of a Charleston dance to the song ‘Fat Sams grand Slam’ from the famous Bugsy Malone movie.

The judges for this years event are Sorcha Furlong (Fair City), Pat Mullaney, Navan Shopping Centre, Fiona Carroll, St Pauls School, & 2010 Winners Noreen Walsh & Derek Darby. Some of the competitors are Mary Power & Michael Smith, Brian Smith & Cathy Martin, Niamh Carroll & Conor O Connor, Olivia Duff & Patrick Reilly. All money raised will go towards Mother of Peace Orphanage in Illovo SA, which is home to 80 orphaned and vulnerable children, many of whom are HIV positive. It is located on an old sugar plantations and current funding is going towards the competition of a new house. Each unit is home to 6 children and a house mother. Monthly donations provide vital medication, food and car for all the children. During this difficult time of world wide recession, Friends of Mother of Peace here in Ireland are the only group currently sending money to the orphanage. Friends of Mother of Peace was established by a group of Irish people from and Meath who wanted to help and raise money for this worthy cause. The event will take place on Sunday 20th March at 7.30pm in the Knightbrook Hotel Trim. There will also be dancing into the wee hours after the event with The Supertones. As last years event was supported by over 1000 people it is advisable to get your tickets year.
